The Save Woogaroo Forest Group is excited to announce that as part of the Peaks to Points Festival they're hosting the inaugural Woogaroo Catchment Fair. 

The event will feature the stalls of local environmental and community groups, showcasing the work they do and the issues important to them. There will be a sausage sizzle and non-alcoholic drinks for sale. You can also bring your own picnic. 

A FREE shuttle bus will be available on the day to take people to and from the Springfield Central Train Station. 

What's On

Meet the wildlife — Come face to face with native Australian animals in a live wildlife display. D'Aguilar Wildlife will be on hand with a range of species that may include Koalas, Gliders, Snakes, Lizards and more, with expert handlers on hand to share each animal's story and answer your questions. A highlight for visitors of all ages.

Know your koalas — Join the Ipswich Koala Protection Society to learn how to spot a koala tree by its bark, identify a koala by its droppings, and find out exactly where and how to see koalas in the wild across the Ipswich region.

Kids' activities — Take home a Kids' Sample Bag and Echidna Detective Kit; get your face painted as one of Woogaroo's resident animals; join a bird nest building competition hosted by BirdLife Southern Queensland; many more activities planned for the day. 

Dawn birdwatch walk — Rise early and join Springfield Lakes Nature Care for a guided birdwatch through the forest, starting at 7am. Binoculars welcome.

Meet the bats — Bats Conservation and Rescue Queensland will be on hand with orphaned bats, giving you the chance to learn about their remarkable features, the dedicated care they need before release, and the critical role micro-bats and flying-foxes play in pollination, seed dispersal and insect control across our native forests.

Expert talks — Throughout the day, join a series of short talks from specialists covering a variety of engaging and informative topics. Full schedule to be confirmed and published closer to the event.

The forest up close — Explore photos of the flora and fauna confirmed in Woogaroo Forest, including endangered and vulnerable species, and learn about the distinct forest types that make this site ecologically significant. Understand what is at stake if the proposed residential developments proceed.

Guided boundary walk — Join a guided walk along the fringes of the forest and see firsthand the areas where damage has already occurred as a result of the proposed developments.

Art of the forest — View original paintings of Woogaroo Forest by local artists.

Take action beyond the forest — Learn about the Wilderness Society's campaign to hold major corporations to deforestation-free commitments, and hear from the Ipswich Climate Action Group about what thinking globally and acting locally looks like on the ground right here in Ipswich.
